Baltimore Consulting are currently recruiting for an excellent opportunity for an experienced Adult Social Care Social Worker to join a senior leadership team as Principal Social Worker for Adults.

Reporting directly to the Head of Quality and Safeguarding, the Principal Social Worker will be accountable to embedding professional standards, quality assurance and taking a lead role in a variety of transformational programmes to embed new approaches and ways of working.

The Principal Social Worker will lead on the development of social work practice whilst ensuring service compliance with statutory requirements, policy process and best practice are upheld.

Working across Adults Services and with a close relationship to the Children's Social care team you will need to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and have a proven track record in building relationships across directorates and external, partner agencies. There will be opportunities to lead and contribute to projects to improve efficiency and develop the service and wider health and social care agenda.

Principal Social Worker main duties and responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee excellent social work practice
• Programme management and coaching including; ASYE, CPD, students placements, social work apprenticeships.
• Support effective social work supervision and decision making
• Oversee quality assurance and improvement of social work practice liaising directly with the Senior Management team
• Advise the senior management team and/or wider council in complex or controversial cases and on developing case and other law relating to social work practice
• Offer strategic oversight and contributing to the improvement of practice
• Be visible across the organisation from elected members and senior manager to frontline social workers, people who use services and carers and partners
• Measure staff performance, set targets and review ensuring that service requirements are met
• Remain up to date on professional research and development and relevant legislative changes. Advise senior leaders on impact and recommend actions as required

Principal Social Worker essential requirements:

• Recognised and relevant professional qualification e.g. Dips, CQSW, CSS. Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and able to demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development to develop and maintain expertise in learning and development.
• Substantial post qualification experience gained in a management and professional supervisory capacity in adult social care and safeguarding

• Excellent analytical and reasoning skills with well-developed verbal and written skills; and competent in the use performance information data.

• Proven ability to work flexibly with excellent management skills to prioritise and set appropriate deadlines
