School Place Planning Consultant- Local Authority - North East

An exciting new opportunity for a school place planning specialist has arisen within the North East. My client are looking for an experienced school place planning consultant to lead the management of pupil place projections and maintain strategic consultation in order to deliver effective school organisation changes.

You will be responsible for demographic planning and the co-ordination of bids gained from schools in order to successfully contribute to the planning of the capital investment programme for schools.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working on options and/or appraisals in regards to school organisation
  • The councils planning horizon is growing shorter with a significant rise in pupil numbers, you will be accountable for succession planning and influential in pushing school bids forward
  • Providing expert advice in relation to school place planning and space utilisation
  • Assisting the Service Manager in delivering the council's statutory duties and the strategic priorities of the service.

To succeed in this role you must have -

• Substantial knowledge of the statutory and regulatory framework governing the organisation of schools and changes to the school estate (e.g. opening, closing and expanding schools, and commissioning new schools).
• Experience of carrying out data and demographic analysis.
• Experience in contributing to pupil forecasting, including for place planning.

The role is high profile and challenging and you will need to be innovative, resilient and able to work at a fast pace. You will need to form positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders devising and coordinating strategies place planning.
